Graduate Students
Evan Corbin
Evan graduated from the University of Kentucky with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2006 and a MBA in 2007. He is currently pursuing a M.S. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at NC State under the direction of Dr. Mike Burchell. His research is focused on the tidal stream and marsh restoration at North River Farms, specifically studying the stability of the tidal stream channel and the water quality dynamics within the stream and marsh system.
Randall Etheridge
Randall graduated from NC State University in 2008 with a B.S. in Biological Engineering. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. under the direction of Dr. Mike Burchell and Dr. François Birgand with the support of a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Randall began work at North River as an undergraduate in 2005. His early work as an undergraduate was mainly as a technician, but was later involved with analysis of Phase I water quality data. His current research includes intensively monitoring Broome’s Branch at North River.
Bobby Jarzemsky
Bobby graduated from NC State University in 2006 with a B.S. in Civil Engineering. He then pursued a M.S. in Biological and Agricultural Engineering at NC State under the direction of Dr. Mike Burchell. His research focused on the wetland restoration at North River Farms, specifically studying the impact of varying surface topography on restoring target hydrology as well of the flood mitigation potential of restoration wetlands. Bobby completed his MS degree in May 2009.
Yo-Jin Shiau
Ph.D. Student from Taiwan, studying greenhouse gas emmissions from the restored marsh as part of a collaborative effort with USGS.
